Newbie Playground

Description:

• This area represents a newbie playground which has been taken over by a gang of highbies
• The level quest provides a good piece of equipment for newbie melee characters.
• No aggressive monsters make this an easy area to explore.
• The area itself has some easy characters to kill, but it probably won't make your frequent EXP grinding rotation.

Quests:

• LQ23: Liberate Newbies
• Search the sandbox to find a magazine. Give the magazine to Arnold to get past him.
• Go to the top of the slide and kill the Highbie second in command to get a key
• "Climb tree" and unlock the door to kill the leader of the Highbies. Grab the gavel he drops.
• At the seesaw, search the seesaw to get a newbie badge.
• Go to the swingsets and "swing". Give the gavel to the Newbie leader to complete the LQ.

Equipment:

• A racoon tail hat
• Reward for completing LQ23
• Gives +4 str, but at the expense of -5 charisma
• Great piece of equipment for newbie melee characters

Open Questions:

• Is there a way to repair the tire swing?

Notes:

Entrance and Playground:

• To enter the Newbie Playground use the command "climb gate".
• I don't think there exists a key to actually unlock the gate
• In the sandbox if you "search sand" you will find a dirty magazine
• You may need to give this to Arnold to get past him and climb the slide.
• In the room with the see-saw "search see-saw" to find a newbie badge
• This is needed for the level quest
• Do not attack Arnold at the slides. He is crazy strong.
• At the top of the slide, Marcus Highberry will block you from going down the slide
• When you kill him, he drops a small wooden key, which is needed for the quest
• In the swings, you can "swing". This will transport you to the newbie leader in the trees
• Give your newbie badge to Lorne, and they will tell you about the quest.
• He says to get the key from the second in command on the slide
• He also says to get the newbie gavel from Nelson and bring it back
• By the large tree in the park, "climb tree" to go up it.

Treehouse:

• Once you climb the tree, to get into the treehouse you will need to unlock the door using the wooden key that Marcus Highberry gave you.
• In the treehouse you will find Nelson, the Highbe Leader cowering under a desk...
• Kill Nelson, take the gavel he drops, and return it to the Newbie leader Lorne. This will complete the LQ. Here is the reward text:
• Lorne says 'Thank you so much for saving us from those mean and nasty highbies. Please make yourself at home here, and have some fun on our rides.'    
• Lorne asks 'Um.. my father gave me this hat, but I think I look kind of stupid in it, why don't you have it?'
• Lorne gives you a hat.
• Congratulations! You have just completed Liberate newbies!
• You receive 1468 gold as a reward for completing the quest.
• You give a small, wooden gavel to Lorne.
• The hat is pretty nice as it provides +str but it does lower your charisma a lot
