Village of Shrea (Also known as Hobbit Farmhouse, and Alchemist House)

Image
Continent:  Lucetium Description: A great newbie area with lots of areas to explore, many of secrets to learn, and easy to kill monsters that are not aggressive (until you go into the woods that is). Also you can become a beekeeper to earn some extra money which is always nice! Warning: Beekeeping is an investment (both time and money) and might not be a great newbie money activity Quests: Area Quest: Alchemist's Dilemma I won't spoil much here but this is an easy area quest that anyone can do That being said, one part of the quest can only be completed at night (as in nighttime inside of Batmud). You can check the time using the "time" command. Equipment: N one that I know of.  Open Questions: I need to look into the caravan side quests. See "help caravan" in batmud In the brewery cellar, is it possible to drink from the barrels (or for that matter do anything cool down there)? Seems like a lot of work to get somewhere so boring. I keep earning reputation w...

Ancona Manor

Image
Continent:  Furnachia Description: I absolutely love this area. It was really well coded and the quest is a ton of fun to solve. Easily in the top 10 areas of Batmud. One of the more Newbie/Midbie friendly areas in Furnachia. Feel free to explore since there aren't any aggressive monsters that I'm aware of.... Update/Warning:  If you wear any red clothing one of the monsters will turn aggressive and attack you. They are a "beefy" fella so it'll be a pretty quick death. Quests: LQ 48: Successor of Province This is a real fun level quest. No fighting and all exploring. So anyone can complete this! Spoilers can be found below, but I strongly recommend exploring this area and figuring things out yourself and only referring to this guide if you get stuck. Go to the manor to get things started... Equipment: A shimmering blue necklace with a silver plaque +4 WIS 'squeeze necklace' for water walking (one time a boot) This is the reward for completing the level que...

Kath'vael Forest

Continent:  Rothikgen Description: One of the few low level friendly areas on the continent of Rothikgen Quests: A sub-task of "LQ 33: Northern raiders" happens here Equipment: Flute of Slave's Sigh Single hand slot (glove) +3 dex, +5% spellcasting, emits light Great bard equipment Collar of the Cat Demon +2-3 dex Dropped by Sharav (the cat pet/demon of the high priest) This is a pretty easy piece of equipment to get Sells for 4.5k to a shopkeeper. Items to sell: Longsword of the Ogrekiller: 640 gold Club of a young dragon's thigh-bone 780 gold Open Questions: I have a ton of questions. It feels like there are all sorts of secrets in this area that I don't know how to interact with What do the keys go to, and why can't I find them in every run? What happens when you win a game of chance against the skeleton? I've been told that you win a flute, which you can then trade in to get a Flute of slave's sigh What is past Bloodlust the Giant-Kin? What's u...

Burning Village

Image
Continent:  Desolathya Description: Back story : Member of the Crimson Skull League (Chaos Warriors) are attacking the city As the name implies, this is a burning village. You will periodically take fire damage while in this area so don't idle here, and don't regen inside the area itself. A small area that is good for level 30ish players to make some money and exp.  Mobs drop a lot of equipment that you can sell. Also a major city (Calythien) is right by this area making selling equipment to vendors very easy. Note: There is an entire shadow realm version of this area that is accessible via the shrine The shadow realm is a step up in difficulty but can still be tackled by players level 35-40. Quests: No official quests, but you get some neat flavor text and a belt for saving the village priest. You can then free some shadowy souls from the raiders to get a shadow blade. Equipment: Dark Shadowy Scythe + Cold damage scythe Good for a newbie Reaver. Otherwise sell it. Sells for 1...

Whirlpool

Image
Continent:  Lucetium Description: A newbie/midbie area with lots of monsters to kill. There aren't very many aggressive monsters so a fairly safe area to explore. Only the entrance rooms (and the northern part of the caverns) have water in them, so if your character has a water allergy, (such as a Troll), you can still explore this area. You can not leave the way you enter this area. The exit is at the end, so be prepared to explore this area before you enter the whirlpool. Area is *very* loosely based on the  Deryni series of historical fantasy novels by Katherine Kurtz Quests: N one that I know of.  Equipment: N one that I know of.  Open Questions: Can you interact with the Camberian more than just asking them about graves? Map: Notes: Entrance and Underground Cavern: When you enter the whirlpool room the first thing you need to do is "dive" to enter the caverns below it. You will leave mounts and companions behind when you do this Also, there isn't an easy way bac...

Orc Scouts

Image
Continent:  Laenor Description: A good newbie (as in players lower than level 20) area The area quest rewards a decent amount of money (around 15k gold) which can be repeated once a day. The red rockets dropped here are a popular way to shout messages to the rest of the mud Note: Many of the bullies don't leave corpses which makes it less interesting for guilds that need corpses. Quests: Area Quest: Scouts Note: This quest is not listed on the bat.org website Equipment: Orc scout field guide Sells for around 3.5k gold so it is worth picking up even if you can't use it. Reward for finding the orc scout treasure Supposedly if you wield this then it will grant you a bonus to your consider skill I suspect there is a level limit to this item as it did not do anything for my Level 27 character Red Rockets These allow you to send a message to the entire MUD Only the first 31 characters will be displayed Use "message %" to set the message the rocket should say Next drop rocke...

Bunny Valley

Image
Continent:  Laenor Level Limit: Max Player Level: 55 Enforcement Mechanism: 100k Blocking Monster Description: A newbie/midbie area with lots of bunnies worth around 2k EXP each to kill The Wizard coder claimed they made this area in one day as a sort of challenge The bunnies are tough for 2k creatures, but this is a popular place for Midbie (Levels 30 - 55) players to come through and get a bunch of kills quickly. Quests: There is a quest given by Liedhe the Lizardman, who is near the entrance, to explore other areas of Batmud. I've explored a lot of the newbie areas the places he wanted me to explore did not look familiar to me. So I suspect this is geared more to Midbies. No idea what the reward is. This also might be tied to the Ghost Liberators Guild There seems to be some mystery in the temple regarding a stuck drain Equipment: N one that I know of.  Open Questions: Is there anything special about the stones in the valley? What is the reward for completing Liedhe's ...
