Hugoville

Continent: Laenor

Description:
  • It is a bit of a mash-up of areas with one being for newbies and one being for higher level players
  • Contains Hugoville (newbie area) and the Von Huber mansion (highbie area).
Quests:

  • LQ18: Manhunt
    • Quick summary: Go to the abandoned warehouse, "push boxes", kill Billy Bob Jack, go to the sheriff and "show sword to sheriff"
  • LQ50: Machine
Equipment:
  • None that I know of.
Open Questions:
  • This guide only covers the newbie area. My character is only level 40 so it'll be a while before I can explore the mansion.

Notes:

Entrance:
  • Going in you have a choice. To the north is the Von Heber mansion which is for people level 50+. To the west is Hugoville for newbies.
Hugoville:
  • Immediately after getting into Hugoville you are confronted by two annoying gang members.
    • While it is tempting to kill them, they attack as a pair and are tougher than typical newbie creatures.
  • In the old grocery store, despite the grocer saying they have nothing to buy, you can purchase hugobars, hugosticks, and hugonuts from the food dispenser
  • There is a snake oil salesman who is selling snake oil and love potions for 1k gold each
    • Their real name is Count Xzwyski
    • They do not drop any of their wares if you kill them
  • In the sheriff's office you can "look at poster" to see the advert for the level quest
    • To get the reward, once you have Billy Bob Jack's sword type "show sword to sheriff"
  • In the mayor's office, if you "dig firepit" you will find a pair of studded leather gauntlets.
    • They only sell for 15 gold fyi.
  • Rusty Jack's Iron works will buy armor, weapons, and items from you so you don't have to haul them back to town.
    • He won't buy expensive items though like Utah Johnny's spiked knee guards
  • In One Stump Tommy's bar Utah Johnny is drinking
    • He drops a sword of bashing, spiked knee guards, and a big ugly grey key. The key unlocks the door to the secret lair
    • If you attack him, the other gang members won't do anything, which makes this fight more doable.
    • The spiked knee guards he drops are work around 2k gold!
  • In the dirty warehouse "push boxes" to uncover the way to Billy Bob Jack's secret lair.
    • Note: The door may be locked if nobody else has been this way before. If so, unlock it with the key you got from Utah Johnny
  • Kill Billy Bob Jack and return his sword to the sheriff by using the command "show sword to sheriff"
    • Note: You need to actually kill Billy Bob Jack. If you pick up the sword from someone else killing them, the sheriff will not accept it.
    • Billy Bob Jack is tough since he casts flaming arrow to damage you, and can heal himself as well. So you need to tank and do a lot of damage quickly.
    • He drops a box that is jammed shut so you need to "force box"
      • The box has a few gold coins in it. Nothing exciting.
    • Here is the text for completing the quest:
      • Congratulations! You have just completed Manhunt!
      • You receive 1464 gold as a reward for completing the quest.
      • You show the sword of the vanquished Billy Bob Jack to the sheriff and he congratulates you on a job well done.
      • Then, the sheriff gives you your reward, level quest 18.
  • In Annie's lonesome coffee shop Annie sits drinking coffee
    • She says if only she had someone to love she could tell them all sorts of secrets. Hmm. I seem to remember the snake oil salesman selling love potions
    • Giving Annie the potion didn't do anything.
    • Drinking the potion didn't do anything either.
    • If you "pour potion into cup" she will tell you about the leather gauntlets she buried in the fireplace.
      • It is Annie's favorite coffee cup.  It also looks like you could pour something into annie's cup and she would never notice.
      • You discreetly pour the love potion into Annie's drink.  She sips her drink unknowingly and then whispers in your ear:  I buried my dead fiance's favorite possession, his leather gauntlets, in the fire pit in town hall so that no one would find them.
    • Ahh, I feel sorry for Annie. No wonder she is sad.
      • Wait, was Annie's fiancé the Mayor's dead son? Did the Mayor have a son?
  • At the lake, the fisherman are asking what happened to the guy who caught all the fish
    • They say that Hugo the fishkiller drowned south by the thistles
  • In the lake, if you "search bottom" you will find a rusty breastplate that belonged to Hugo
    • It sells for 1540 gold at Rusty Jack's
  • In the wolf den/small cave, if you "move hay" you will find a pair of chewed up old boots
    • They sell for 167 gold at Rusty Jack's
