  • There is a special explore room on top of the big tent. You can get there by shooting yourself out of the cannon

First goal: Get two pins

Entrance (Going West):

  • It costs money to get past the ticket seller. I'm not sure how much, and it may increase with your levels.
  • Asking a woman about the circus she mentions there is a lion on the loose
  • At the fortune teller, Monica is missing her crystal ball, which somebody stole.
    • If you 'ask monica about tip' she gives a lot of good newbie tips though
    • You can also "search table" to find random gems (which might be nice if you are a newbie druid)
  • At the beggar, I put 15 silver in his hat, and then he would answer questions
    • He confirms that a lion is on the loose
    • If you ask him about children, he mentions them disappearing in the bushes to the south-east of the circus.
  • Harry the dwarven guard is wandering around
    • If you ask him about the ball, he says he thinks someone from the staff stole it
  • In the strongman tent, 'hit machine' to get a pin.
    • Note, this depends on your strength. If you are a small duck, you might have problems doing this.
    • You can hit it multiple times to get a better score. So you can do something like '20 hit machine' and pray to the random number gods if you are a spellcaster.
  • Nea in front of the house of illusions seems suspicious about stealing the crystal ball
    • Note, she teleports you if you are fighting her
  • The house of illusions is interesting, and has some "random wandering rooms" that will disorient you.
    • To the west is what looks like the church of all gods in Arelium. In reality it is a fake.
      • If you type "take tour" with the guide, the guide will become angry at you seeing through its disguise and attack you.
      • The guide is *very* tough as a 35k monster. But if you kill it, it drops a delicate iron key
    • If you wander enough you will get to a room with only a 'east' exit. If you search the rubble, you will find a locked chest
      • I could not force it open or pick it up
      • In fact when trying to force it with a shovel, it fired an acid bolt that instakilled me.
      • I kept trying to force the chest with a crowbar this time
        • It blew up and killed me in a fireball
        • When I came back, the chest was gone, but the crystal orb was there so #winning I guess...
      • If you kill the tour guide though, it will drop a key to the chest.
  • Giving the orb to Monica (the fortune teller) she thanks you and shows you the location of the lion
    • Warning: This means the lion's location likely changes which means my map above might not be fully accurate to its location.
Main Tent and West portion of Circus:

  • In the main tent there is a cannon
    • "enter cannon" to get into it
    • You need a torch, bur if you have one, "light gunpowder" will launch you
    • Once you fly through the air you'll find yourself on top of the main tent
      • Ok, another time I did it I found myself on the roof of the dark castle so you can end up in all sorts of places if you do this.
      • The top of the tent is a special explore room, which gives you extra EXP and is useful if you ever join the Navigator's Guild.
    • If you go down, you'll find yourself in the trapeze platform
    • If you go down again, you'll be at the center of the tent
    • I found I could then "climb up" if I wanted to
  • The vending machine sells torches if you want to use the cannon
    • It also sells a "grue sweeper game" which I might have to try out.
  • The announcer in the middle of the tent will sometimes turn aggressive and attack you.
    • If you kill the announcer the following appears:
      • Some letters are floating here: 'Mariah the beautiful Riddler's
      • Some letters are floating here: 'Uh'rak the divine Bear-Man!'
      • Some letters are floating here: 'Lyantha the bearded lady!'
      • Two Some letters are floating here: 'Monica the mysterious Sorcerer's
      • Some letters are floating here: 'Rutger the Strongman!
  • For the Riddler you need to answer questions by descrambling words.
    • You need to answer six questions!

  • In the cages in the NE of the circus, if you "search hay" you can find a torch
  • In the director's tent
    • If you search the bed, you will find a bottle of beer
    • If you give your two pins to the director, he will task you with brining him the head of the lion. He doesn't give you much more information though...
Killing the Lion:
  • In the path leading up to the field is a gypsy Akeem who is tending to a campfire.
    • This is a great room to regenerate in if you are killing monsters.
  • In the field area to the south, there is a pond that you can search for a bunch of random items.
    • I found things like fish hooks, pins, and pots.
    • Nothing worth much, but it is interesting
  • I searched the bushes in the field and was ambushed by a rabid gorilla
    • It hit much harder than other monsters in this area
    • It also started wandering around being a menace to everyone else
    • I may have to delay trying to complete this quest until I can get some help.
    • Note: If you find the crystal orb for Monica (see above) she will tell you which bushes to search so you don't accidently disturb the gorilla.
  • I searched a different bush and found the lion
    • The lion seems to hit less hard than the gorilla, but it was hard to focus it down with the gorilla wandering around.
    • Also, the lion has a ton of hitponts, compared to other monsters in this area.

  • A loud girl, hyperactive girl, happy girl, etc
    • Around 400 exp

  • A woman, looking for an interesting tent

Riftwalker Guide

Guild Location: Continent : Rothikgen World Location: Randomly moves but can be found in the lake in north-west Rothikgen north of the Riftwalker cave. Look for the 'O' in the lake, and once on it "touch sphere" to enter the guild. Warning: There are a large number of vampire bats (they show up as 'B' on the map) that roam around the guild and will absolutely murder you when you are full of EXP and trying to get to the guild to spend it. Introduction: Intended Audience: The goal of this guide is to help new players get started in BatMud. This guide is roughly divided into advice for newbies (levels 1-15) and lowbies (levels 16-30) I'm going to assume that people reading this have some familiarity with other text based MUDs (Multi User Dungeons). I wish there was a good "true new player guide for MUDs" that I could link to here, but I don't know of one. So I feel bad about this assumption, but if I dive down into that level in this guide then I'll never get around to publishing anything.
