Description:

  • One of the newer areas of Batmud. 
  • Contains a Batmud story quest with some amazing rewards
  • The quest is going to cost you a lot of money, and I suspect it will be quite involved
  • Note; I've only just barely scratched the surface of this area.
Quests:

  • Area Quest: Vendance Shore
    • This is a Batmud Stories quest, so it has multiple parts and uses the new stories mechanism
    • Batmud Stories Name: Laesa's Blessing
Equipment:
  • A silver amulet of Laesa
    • +5 Wis, +2% bolt of knowledge, +2 cold res
  • An old leather sleeve
    • +3 Wis, +3 Int, Bound to Character
  • A rotten wooden staff
    • +3 Int, +10% magic missile, +dam to magic missile
  • A dark leather bound tome
    • +4 Wis, +10% reanimation
  • A talisman decorated with symbols of Draen-Dalar
    • +3 Wis, +5% aura of irreverence
  • A white shin guard
    • +3 Str, +3 Dex, +light, Bound to Character
  • A beaver fur coat
    • +1 Dam, +1 Avoid
  • A light grey armour suit
    • +10 Wis, +15 Con, Bound to Character
  • A damned amethyst sabre
    • +5 Int, +magical dam, +permanent damned armament
Open Questions:
  • I got up to the part where I needed to purchase a lot of lumber from player merchants and decided that I probably should focus on some less involved areas first.
  • I'm posting this very incomplete guide since it may be a bit before I get back to exploring this area.

Notes:

Town Streets:
  • When you first enter Vendace Shore, you'll notice it looks like a normal town like the city of Arelium or Dortlewall
  • All the room descriptions talk about how it's weird you don't see villages walking about. The only creatures you'll encounter on the streets are some seagulls.

Starting the Batmud Stories Quest:

  • Go to the back of the Merson's house to meet Matthew Merson.
    • This will make the Batmuds story available for you to accept
  • To start the story use the command "story accept Laesa's Blessing"
    • Next use the command "story choose Laesa's Blessing"
    • Note: You can view all the Batmud stories you have available using the command "story list"
    • At any time you can just type "story" to see the next step of your quest
  • Next, "listen to Matthew". This will update your story.
    • He will ask for a beer from the Murky Minnow to continue his story.
  • Go to Murky's Minnow and go into the bar (one west), and buy a beer
    • I like that the bartender puts a minnow in the beer. That made me smile.
    • Now bring it back to Matthew and give him the beer
    • You can now read the next entry of the Story.
  • The next part of the story is you need to talk to Hollie Strange in the chapel
    • Go to the chapel and "ask strange about Laesa's Blessing" to advance the story
  • Mrs. Strange wants help to perform funerals. For this she needs two items:
    • 200 kg of wood
      • You can buy this wood from the material exchange in Arelium, or you could ask on the sales channel for merchant players to help you out
      • This is a lot of wood, and your character may not be able to carry it all at one time.
      • Once you have the wood, you can go to the funeral pyre in the graveyard of Vendace Shore, and "toss nugget" to toss the wooden nuggets into the fire.
    • Two ceremonial coffins
      • Go to Corra in the boathouse and "ask cora about coffins"
        • You need to do this to advance the story.
      • You need really good wood for the coffin.
        • 50 kg of wood of at least good refinement
        • Also it needs to be either in one block of 50 kg or two blocks of 25 kg each
  • That's as far as I've gotten!

  • A seagull circling above the square
    • 2000 exp
  • a small bat flies around the belfry 
    • 500 exp
