Burning Village
Continent: Desolathya
Description:
Quests:- Back story: Member of the Crimson Skull League (Chaos Warriors) are attacking the city
- As the name implies, this is a burning village. You will periodically take fire damage while in this area so don't idle here, and don't regen inside the area itself.
- A small area that is good for level 30ish players to make some money and exp.
- Mobs drop a lot of equipment that you can sell. Also a major city (Calythien) is right by this area making selling equipment to vendors very easy.
- Note: There is an entire shadow realm version of this area that is accessible via the shrine
- The shadow realm is a step up in difficulty but can still be tackled by players level 35-40.
- No official quests, but you get some neat flavor text and a belt for saving the village priest. You can then free some shadowy souls from the raiders to get a shadow blade.
Equipment:
- Dark Shadowy Scythe
- + Cold damage scythe
- Good for a newbie Reaver. Otherwise sell it.
- Sells for 1400 gold
- Shadow blade
- +Cold damage shortsword
- There's better shortswords you can buy for around 20k-40k gold, so unless you really want to collect your own equipment I'd recommend skipping it.
- Only sells for around 300 gold
- Shadow scarab
- +1 hpr pendant
- Good piece of newbie equipment if you don't already have something for that slot
- Shadow bracelet
- +1 hpr bracelet
- Only takes up one arm slot so you can wear two of them. Also super lightweight
- This is a popular piece of equipment for players
- White belt decorated with a scar
- Given as a reward for saving the priest in the shrine
- No real good stats, but does give +1% remove scar, which is ... somewhat useless, but still something.
- It sells for 2.5k gold which is nice
- There is a lot to sell
- Skull armour sells for around 2.5k gold each
- Swords sell for around 150 gold each
- Sollerets with skull ornaments sell for around 250 gold
- Black shadow leggings only sells for around 80 gold
- Black shadowy cloak only sells for around 30 gold
Open Questions:
- Is there anything you can do with the screaming bodyparts?
- What is up with the gate by the shadows that you free?
- I've only freed the shadow slaves once and got the Shadow Blade. I've heard there are other possible rewards but I'm going on other sources and haven't validated them.
Entrance:
- The initial entrance room (Path to the village) is a safe room. You will not take burning here and there are no aggressive monsters.
- This and the shrine are the only safe rooms that I know of in the "real world" part of this area, so retreat here to heal and rest.
- In all of the other rooms you will hit by heat from the flames, much like if you were in a too hot sauna. My duck riftwalker took around -20 hitpoints when the effect procs.
- As far as I can tell, there is nothing to do in the non-shadow fields, so you can visit them once for explore exp, but don't stay there due to the constant fire damage.
- Also the southern fields are just one room with two entrances to it, which was a bit confusing.
- In the shrine is a woman torturing a priest of Tarmalen
- The woman wants the priest to heal her scarred eye, but the priest refuses to do so.
- If you kill the woman the following event happens:
- A tiny star like light appears singing an unearthly beautiful song.
- It danced around the area for a few moments and suddenly transforms
- into a beautiful angel! Angel continues singing and suddenly you feel
- lots better. The angel sings and suddenly something materializes to
- her hands. Your body is unable to handle all of the influx of magical energy.
- She smiles and gives healer's belt to
- Kikisisu as a token of Tarmalen's gratitude.
- The priest transforms into a tiny bright singing star and flies away!
- The angel transforms into a tiny bright singing star and flies away!
- You get a white belt decorated with a scar that gives +1% remove scar spell
- It's a good item to sell
- The priest also is transformed/freed so they leave the room after killing the woman
- If you "pray" after killing the woman you'll be taken to a shadow version of the area which looks "mostly" the same but has new monsters.
- If you kill the priest first, the event won't happen, but you can still pray to enter the shadow realm.
- In the burning windmill there is also a woman who is being attacked, but I couldn't figure out a way to free her.
Shadow Realm of the Village:
- The most important thing to know is that to get out of the shadow realm go back to where the normal entrance to the area is (aka out the shrine and to the north), and then type "enter light" to exit to the outerworld.
- In the shadow realm I could see items I dropped in the real world, but I couldn't interact with them.
- Also, while the shadow realm is also on fire, the fire does not hurt you here like in the real world
- In the village market is a shadowy slaver collecting bodyparts
- They will block your way to the south
- They will chase you if you wimpy/run from them.
- They also drop a sack filled with five *screaming* bodyparts
- Not sure what you can do with those body parts...
- The shadow slaver outside of the mill will cast mind disruption which can one-shot most spell casters.
- They drop a key you can use to free shadow slaves in the fields
- They also drop a dark shadowy scythe which is a decent newbie weapon.
- In the southern shadow fields are shadowy souls being enslaved by a shadowy guard.
- There is a floating gate in the room, but there is no way that I could figure out how to open or interact with it.
- If you try to free the souls the guard will attack you.
- If you don't have the key from the shadowy slaver you can't free the souls even if you killed their guard.
- To free them with the key use the command "free souls".
- Note: This will consume the key so you can't just camp out in this room freeing the souls every time they respawn.
- Freeing the prisoners will give you one of three rewards:
- A Shadow Blade which is ... not all that great truth be told. But it's something!
- A shadow scarab which isn't bad, but you probably have a better item from other newbie quests
- A shadow sleeve, which is a popular piece of equipment since it gives +1 hpr, you can wear two of them, and they are super lightweight.
Kill Tracker:
- A young man desecrating the dead
- 2200 exp
- Drops a black short sword and a skull girdle
- A man leaning to his sword admiring his handiwork
- 3500 exp
- Drops a skull decorated suit of armour, and a black sword with a skull pommel
- A hideous man-thing wearing only his boots
- 3400 exp
- Drops a sollerets with skull ornaments
- A sobbing human girl
- 250 exp
- Shadowy slaver collecting bodyparts
- 3800 exp
