Recycle Event (Rixx Tec Gear)
Description:
- Twice a year, in January and September, a special two-month event allows you to sacrifice equipment to create powerful Rixx Tec gear.
- Rixx Tec gear can be fully customized to fit *almost* any equipment slot, use any material, and have a wide variety of bonuses imbued into it. This makes it super useful for filling those awkward equipment slots where you haven't been able to find anything good.
- The bonuses on Rixx Tec gear scale with the amount of equipment you sacrifice to create it. This means the event is useful for everyone, from brand-new players all the way up to the top-tier players on the Mud.
- Unfortunately, the Rixx Tec quest line is very confusing. That's why this guide exists!
Event Location: (South-Crossing South of Arellium)

- Very helpful for deciding what to make your equipment out of!

- Rigs are super popular items for new players to create since they help with carrying equipment/loot, and finding magical rigs is very difficult to do.
Key Items:
Equipment Limitations:
- You can only have three Rixx-Tec items created per character. The equipment will be bound to that character and can not be used by anyone else.
- You can only "wear" two Rixx-Tec items at a time. If you try to wear the third, they will all explode (not ideal).
- The reason you can have three items created is to help with swap spots, support future reincarnations, or to save the third item for a future "Rixx recycle bonus"
- Newbies will probably only bea able to create one piece of Rixx-Tec equipment per season
- The Zinium cost to create a second piece is 1451 zin, which is *huge* for newer players.
- That being said, experienced players can create up to three pieces of equipment per seaons.
- To create a Rixx-Tec equipment that fits into your "frame" slot (such as a backpack) requires a special blueprint which is a random drop during the event. More on that later, but that's the one "weird" piece of equipment to create.
General Approach:
- To participate in the event visit the Rixx's Recycling Robot at South Crossing, south of Arelium
- "look at robot" to see all of the various commands and options for the event
- "event help" is particularly helpful when in doubt.
- The key is to collect "Zinium", also referred to as "Zin". You can do this in one of two ways.
- Monsters will randomly drop zinium orbs when you kill them. This happens more frequently the less EXP your character has spent. It's basically a helper mechanism for newbies. You can "offer orb" to the robot to collect 2 Zin per orb.
- You can "offer" high value equipment to the robot to recylce for Zin. The amount of Zin depends on the sacrifice value of the equipment. A magical piece of newbie equipment often grants 2 Zin, while a midbie magical item might go for 4 to 10 Zin. Once you recycle the equipment it is *gone*. There is no getting it back.
- Once you know what you want to create and have at least one Zin you can create a piece of gear using the command: create <armour> from <material>
- You can see a list of what you can create using the command: list <armour/material>
- WARNING: Newer players will likely only be able create one piece of gear per season. So make sure you know what you really want to make before you create it.
- The next part gets a bit tricky so the details will be described below, but you can now buy runes with Zin and then apply them to the Rixx Tec gear you have created *this* season.
- Runes provide a wide variety of bonuses to the gear
- By default, all gear but frames can hold 9 zinium worth of runes. You can get specific runes thought to increase this limit.
- Your minimum goal is to get at least 6 zinium worth of runes infused into your Rixx gear. This will let you recycle the gear at the next Rixx season for very powerful upgrades.
- If you have a previous piece of Rixx gear you no longer need, and it was enhanced with at least 6 zinium, you can recycle it and it will provide a significant bonus to your new gear.
- Warning: You can only apply the bonus from recylced gear in the season you recycle it. So DO NOT recycle Rixx gear before the season starts.
Zinium Runes and Rewards:
- The above is a sample listing of the zinium rewards my character sees when they type "list rewards"
- The rewards are *cumulative* and/or *gated* in that once you have 90 zinium, you can make use of all the rewards below that as well.
- Some rewards require that you learn a blueprint to redeem them. These blueprints are random drops from killing monsters, but (importantly), they are not bound to a character so players can trade and sell them.
- To redeem a rune type: redeem <index>
- This will give you a colored rune that you can then apply to your Rixx-Tec equipment that you created this season. Look at the rune for more inforamtion about it.
- The different runes will take up different amounts of "zinium slots" in your equipment. So a +8 hp/sp/ep max rune might only take 1 slot, but the +2 stat bonus might take 2 slots.
- Important: Once you apply a rune, you can not remove it. So it usually is best to wait until the near of the season to buy/apply runes since you'll know how much total Zinium you were able to collect by then.
- To recycle old Rixx Gear use the command: recycle <item>
- Note, you don't "offer" the gear like other normal equipment
- To see the upgrades you have available for your equipment the command is: list upgrades
- You will notice that these upgrades are *significantly* more powerful than the rune rewards.
- The "power" of the upgrades will increase the more times you recycle your Rixx-Gear. Aka if you recycle a piece of gear that was previously enhanced with recycled upgrades, the new upgrades it offers will be even more powerful.

Tips:
- Here are good items to get quick and easy gear to recycle:
- Newbie Playgrounds: [Link]
- It takes about 2 minutes to complete the quest when you know what you are doing, and the racoon tail hat reward will give you 2 zinium.
- Orc Sounts: [Link]
- This takes a lot more work, but the field guide quest reward will give you 2 zinium, and you can sell the rest of the eq you get for some money. Basically this is a not-horrible way to bank a lot of eq before the event begins, especially if you script up the map commands to compete it (ChatGPT is wonderful for this).
- A very popular option is to simply buy equipment to sacrifice from other players and player carts.
- Merchants will often put the amount of zinium a piece of equipment is worth in the description.
- Generally expect to pay around 8k gold per point of zinium. This number fluctuates a lot though, so keep an eye out for bargains, and don't complain if everything is more expensive.
- Items tend to get more expensive near the end of a season.....
Equipment Ideas:
- When picking materials, there's a few "special" things to keep in mind:
- If you make equipment out of nullium it will emit darkness (nice if you are a troll).
- If you make equipment out of illumium it will emit light, which is great if you can't see in the dark
- Diamond is generally considered to have the best weight/protection ratio to make armour out of for melee characters.
- Most players pick an equipment frame to start as it is hard to find frames that grant stat bonuses through normal gameplay.
- Make it out of fire for the lightest gear.
- Items made out of fire, silk, and bamboo reduce the weight of what you are carrying in them the most
- You need to find a recipe to make frames. Don't worry though as you can usually buy one from another player, and the drop rate from monsters is actually pretty high.
- Also, don't bother with satchels or backpacks. Wait and make a frame instead since it can hold more.
- The one downside of making a frame is it can hold less Rixx runes than other pieces of gear. So don't feel you *have* to make a frame. If you need a different eq spot filled first, make that instead!
- If you are playing a Shadow Sabre, I can't recommend enough creating mithril gauntlets.
- This will make your gloveknock skill super powerful. Don't sleep on that skill. It can provide some of the most consistant damage in the game for a melee character.
- If you are playing a spell caster, Rixx gear can be super helpful to create lightweight equipment. This will speed up your spell casting and allow you to wear heavier equipment in other slots.
- If you are playing a creature that supports it, a "tail ring" is a great spot to create Rixx equipment, since there aren't a lot of good armour pieces you'll find to fill that slot.
