Equipment:
  • Manannan the Evil Wizard supposedly drops an item that lets you store hit point's in it
    • This item only lasts one boot. So you need to use it or loose it before Armageddon resets things.
    • This item is very helpful to avoid instant death encounters. For example the final boss Vraal the wight will kill you unless you have this item.
    • Full disclaimer: I've never seen this item. I just had other players tell me about it.
Special Explore Rooms:
  • The Wight's Room in the caverns underneath the castle is a special explore room.

  • Is there a way to get into the moat?
  • What do you get if you kill Manannan the evil mage?
  • What is the wooden lockpick for?
  • What do you get if you kill Vraal, the evil wight?

Notes:

Entrance (Drawbridge, Gatehouse):
  • It really seems like you should be able to jump into the moat somehow....
  • The guards move around the area and will turn aggressive if you are fighting in a room.
    • This can cause you problems. Be careful!
  • The cavalier here is the target of the Riftwalker task "Brave the lance". Kill it while it is wrapped in a spark birth spell and it will generate a blazing spark to give to the shaman.
    • The cavalier also drops a lot of equipment that you can sell for a lot of money, so it is worth killing for other players too.
  • A golem blocks access to the northeast tower.
    • Don't try to go past it until you get the delicate key from the mischievous imp. Otherwise you are just wasting your time.
    • Going up this tower you will face tougher aggressive creatures including a Demon, and then Manannan, the evil mage (This is supposedly a 70k monster, so tough!)
    • At the top of this tower is the location for the Riftwalker task/quest "Ride the Rift" which gives them bonus +INT. Riftwalkers need to "cast create rift at sphere" from this room, go to their training location, and then come back.
    • Pro Tip: If you are a riftwalker you can cast invisibility to sneak by the mage. If you are a different class, the mage doesn't block so you can run by them to explore the room.
Inner Keep (And Inner Towers):
  • Going into the inner-keep you will encounter a fireplace. You can "push brick" or "pull brick" to enter it.
    • The "push/pull" seems to alternate, so it will be one or the other.
    • Fireplace will be covered in a different section below.
  • If you take the western stairway, it will take you all the way up to the top of the roof. Up there is a Mischievous Imp that when killed drops a delicate key
    • This key is to the north eastern tower in the courtyard that the golem and demon are blocking.
  • If you take the northern stairs you can go up until you hit a locked door. Go south, then up where there is an artillerist and a jailer helping them.
    • Kill the jailer and they will drop a brass key. This is the key to the door in this tower.
    • Just a warning, the artillerist will turn aggressive when you attack the jailor.
  • Going up past the locked door you will find yourself fin a prison room
    • "search bunk" to find a sliver of wood
    • This wood is a type of lockpick, likely used in the areas past the fireplace.
Fireplace (Caverns/Cellar Under the Castle):
  • To get out of the fireplace, "pull lever"
  • In the first room full of rats and bats, you can "enter rathole" to go into the hidden rathole
    • You can see the rathole if you look at the walls
  • Inside the rathole is a jail. When you kill the jailor they drop a large iron key which will unlock the jail cell
    • Inside the jail is a tragic looking ghost that keeps saying that they would like to see "her" just for a moment.
    • There is a lich you will come across later that drops a rag when you kill them. Give the rag to this ghost and they will thank you and drop a black key for you.
  • Continuing along the main hallways through the caverns, you will come upon a lich in the bedroom
    • The lich seems to be tormenting a shadowy woman. Which probably is related to the tragic looking ghost we met earlier.
    • WARNING: The lich will cast a spell that swaps your alignment. This could be bad news to religious characters.
    • This lich drops a rag when you kill them, which you can then give to the tragic ghost who will then drop a black key for you.
  • At the end of the hall where there is a dead end, you can "move rocks" to continue on.
    • Warning, once you go through here, you can't get out without using a teleportation spell or killing the big monster at the end
    • There is a portal, but I couldn't go through it. I suspect that it becomes active once you kill the main boss.
  • Walking along, you come to an evil room with a locked door. The door is unlocked by the black key you got from the ghost.
    • There is a very tough undead wight in the next room. This is the main boss of this area
    • Luckily I had cast invisibility before going in there :)
  • The Wight's room is a special explore room. Here is the text:
    • As you enter the room, your mind is struck by the evil power that has dwelt here for myriad of years in pain. 
    • You gain 25986 experience for finding this place.

  • A big red demon with sharp claws is attacking you

  • The prison keeper is helping the artillery master
