Butterfly Farm

Quests:
  1. Collect 5 different butterfly extract (2 mithril reward)
  2. Help find Oak for Juniper
    • This is the main quest chain for this area, but it does not reward any area or level quests.
Equipment:
  • A carved wooden wedding ring
    • +3 WIS, +Infravision
    • Obtained by killing a zombie, covered in small yellow flowers

  • A necklace of lost love
    • +5 WIS, +Infravision, +See Magic
    • Obtained by giving the wedding ring to Juniper and then the heart of the plant to the ghost of Loren
  • The mace named 'Butterfly Smasher'
    • +1% Pound
    • Spawns on the floor in the room with the Nasty Big Plant
    • Sells for 905 gold.
Open Questions:
  • Is there any way to interact with the plants in the butterfly valley?
  • Can you keep climbing up the tree after you get to the top of the ladder?

Notes:

Entrance (butterfly valley and treehouse):
  • The entrance is guarded by a HUGE red squirrel who will block anyone over level 40
    • I know it may seem like a simple squirrel. DO NOT ATTACK IT!
  • Lots of butterflies swarming around the entrance way, and there is a nice map to find them
    • They drop a butterfly extract that you will want to collect
  • Lots of plants around here too, but I couldn't figure out how to interact with them
  • "Climb Ladder" when standing before the (_) part of the map to climb up into the tree
  • If you go around the branches, (and continue to go up), you'll encounter more butterflies and animals but they don't drop anything.
  • Eventually if you keep going up you'll hit a platform with nothing there. The room description says the tree keeps going up, but there is no ladder. I couldn't figure out how to keep climbing.
  • If you go in the tree, there is a butterfly farmer Juniper
    • If you say "hello" she will say she is worried about "oak"
    • If you ask Juniper about oak, she will say he's her husband and he went missing. She's worried he ran away to Taniular looking for prettier girls.
    • If you ask about butterflies, she says she needs help with harvesting their extracts
  • (Mini Quest): Collecting the butterfly extracts
    • Juniper needs five different colors
    • If you ask Juniper about colours, she will tell you what you've given her so far.
    • For every set of colours, Juniper will give you 2 mithril coins (1000 gold).
    • She will continue to do this for every set of 5 extracts. You can submit multiple of the same color at the same time and it will "cache" across runs.
  • In the back room there is an opened book on the desk.
    • You can "look at opened book" to find a note in the pages of the book
    • You can "look at note" to identify a word. In my case it was "satomalum"
    • This means "harvest waste" in Finnish
    • If you ask Juniper about the word, she'll say that oak was working on a secret project, maybe to do with a wedding gift.
  • If you look at the bookcase in the back room you notice that two of the books are missing.
    • One of the books is the one with the note in it...
  • You can find the other book if you "search under bed"
    • If you do this, you should find a moldy tome
    • The search syntax is not fun. Searching bed doesn't give you anything so you just need to guess to "search under bed"
  • Hidden staircase
    • When I picked up the tome, and then "put tome in bookcase" the door down opened up.
    • You can't "put tome into bookcase" until it is in your inventory
    • The bookcase will remain in your inventory, so you may want to drop it for the next person
Secret Chamber and Underground:
  • There is a lever in the secret chamber that closes the stairway/door if you don't want people following you, (or if you need to get back up).
  • This leads you to an underground "outerworld" area where you can see all the creatures wandering around.
  • There is a flower covered zombie standing over a hole/crater.
    • It is an elf zombie wearing a wedding ring
    • I think we figured out what happened to Oak
    • The zombie is also blocking access to the hole/crater below it.
    • You need to kill the Zombie to continue (and to retrieve Oak's wedding ring).
      • Note: Once you kill the zombie you can pick up the ring and read it. The inscription says: "To Oak from Juniper, with undying love".
    • WARNING: The Zombie will cast a hard hitting poison attack (summon carnal spores) so don't wait more than two rounds when killing it before leaving, regening, and returning. Will destroy backrow caster members.
  • Going down the crater will take you to a maze of earthworm tunnels.
    • There's more earthworms wandering around just like in the level above.
    • WARNING: This maze is randomly generated per boot. So what you find will be different than what I have in the map.
  • Going down further will lead you to the hollow where an aggressive nasty big plant waits
    • This also casts summon carnal spores, so don't wait around in the room when attacking it.
    • On the floor is a mace named butterfly smasher, which will periodically respawn.
    • Once you kill it, it will drop a yellow heart of the plant which you need if you want to do the mini-quest
Completing the Mini-Quest:
  • Go back to Juniper and give her the wedding ring
    • She will become so distraught that she kills herself.
    • Side note, you will not be able to turn in butterfly essence after this. I know, seems pretty heartless to mention this due to the pain she went through. But her being missing can be a good indication that someone else already did the quest
    • Quest Text:
      • You give a carved wooden wedding ring to Juniper.
      • Juniper says 'He is dead, isn't he...' 
      • Juniper starts to weep miserably. She clutches the ring in her left hand, which starts to glow pink. Suddenly she flings the ring on the floor, and still weeping runs out of the treehouse, covering her eyes with her colourful hands. You hear a crash of tree branches and a muffled thud from down below.
      • Juniper is no more.
    • Side note, I wandered around the tree and did not see a corpse.
  • Juniper will drop a necklace of lost love.
    • When you try to pick it up it will dematerialize and fly north.
  • If you go back north you will see the holy spirt of Loren
    • Loren asks for vengeance and for you to kill the plant that killed Oak.
    • If you give them the heart of the plant they will thank you and reward you with the neclace of lost love.
    • If you read the inscription of the necklace it says: "From Juniper and Oak. Even death cannot us depart."

Riftwalker Guide

Guild Location: Continent : Rothikgen World Location: Randomly moves but can be found in the lake in north-west Rothikgen north of the Riftwalker cave. Look for the 'O' in the lake, and once on it "touch sphere" to enter the guild. Warning: There are a large number of vampire bats (they show up as 'B' on the map) that roam around the guild and will absolutely murder you when you are full of EXP and trying to get to the guild to spend it. Dortlewall Crystite Mine

Continent:  Laenor Description: Located in the newbie town of Dortlewall Area for newbies to grind EXP and to obtain a currency called crystite to purchase newbie equipment The equipment is *very* good, but will only work until you are level 60 Level Limit: There is a hard level limit of 40. Aka players level 41 and greater can not enter the mines Quests: Area Quest: It's a Drill You need to fix a broken drill on the second level of the mine To do this you need to find three machine parts. I'm told the machine parts can spawn differently for different players.  Aka where you get the parts will be different, as well as what parts show up where.  For example, one person searching the junk in the abandoned food store will find a Stone Pin, and another person might find a Ring with Ball Bearings.  Also one person might need to scavenge the broken drill while that drill might be empty for another person.
