Paladin Stronghold
Continent: Lucetium
Level Limit:
- I've heard there is a level limit of 40 here, but I haven't seen any enforcement mechanism
- That being said, I'm level 39 right now...
- Area Quest: Paladin Stronghold
- Note: The keys and items for this quest are removed from your inventory when a reboot occurs.
Equipment:
- None that I know of.
Open Questions:
- There's a lot of items that seem interesting (such as weapons) but you can't interact with.
Notes:
Entrance (Outside Stronghold):
- To the west is a terrified paladin
- If you "ask paladin about help" they will tell you there is a vampire is inside the stronghold. They tell you to seek out Dentar who is also in the stronghold for more information.
- The paladin is continuously casting "Protection against evil"
- In the Arch room, you can "move furniture" to open up the way to go north into the stronghold.
Inside Stronghold:
- There are a lot of status messages of you stumbling on bones or imps running around the castle
- Yup, the place is definitely haunted
- General piece of advice: Don't attack the paladins. They are super beefy.
- To the east, and up a bit (3e, 2n from the entrance), you can "search bones" to find a "screwed old key"
- The room description specifically says there is a pile of bones on the floor, which is better than all the bones you trip over in the status messages.
- Be careful of the mummies. They seem like they would be easy, but they cast acid arrow which hits for a lot.
- There is a scythe in the floor in one room, and the description tells you not to touch it.
- I touched it (doing science for you all) and nothing happened.
- There's a number of other items, such as a burned box, or bloody sword, in the room descriptions but I could not figure out how to interact with them.
- There are three skeletons before the stairs up to the second level. They will chase you if you run away, they will block you, and they will ambush you. So they lead to a lot of death if I tried to run right past them vs. focusing on killing them.
- The gate blocking the stairs upstairs can be unlocked with the key you found in the bones.
Second Floor:
- The monsters get a lot tougher on the second floor.
- There is an altar on the east side which undead can't enter. Not sure if this is relevant or not, but it might make a good place to regen if you forgot where the monsters spawn.
- To the east of the eastern altar there is a statue. If you search the statue you'll find a zhentorium key. This key unlocks the door to the third level.
- There are two mummies that block access to the altar on the west side. Interesting...
- Dentar the paladin is bleeding in the western altar.
- One word of warning, if you enter the room invisible (using a flask of invisibility anyways), the quest bugs and Dentar will not interact with you even if you become visible in the room, or even leave, become visible, and then come back. So you'll need to kill the blocking mummies.
- If you "ask dentar about vampires" he gives you a very long story about what's been going on.
- If you then "ask dentar about stake" he will give you a wooden stake. THIS IS VERY IMPORTANT IF YOU ARE DOING THE AREA QUEST!
- Dentar's story:
- Dentar the paladin starts his story, 'Uh.. these days have been horrible.. It
- was a normal evening in the stronghold. I was sharpening the swords and
- Vainen, the highpriest, was sculptin wooden crosses for newbie nuns. Nothing
- special. But then suddenly, totally out of blue, there were three skeletons
- roaming in to our room.They were mightful and they seemed to lead many groups
- of minor serviles. Well, we fought our best with Vainen. He cast his most
- powerful spells upon them and we were victorious. Other paladins seemed to
- manage pretty well too, but there were small losses also. Then again something
- with very great powers came in. Our two highpriests could not do anything
- before they were already on their way to Elysium. And we fought as we could.
- Mightful paladins, with our greatest discipline. But we fell.
- Not many of us stayed alive, and the ones who did went to get some help. Gods
- were on our side, and someone met Valentina. We were pretty sure that the
- maddness was over as the greatest of the nuns was here to help us. But just
- when she was going to enter the stronghold, the vampire summoned a field. A
- field that prevented she from entering, as it prevented anyone who behold too
- great influence to the power. Valentina did her best and was able to harm the
- vampire so well that it had to flee. And now we don't know where it is.
- I'm building this stake that we could stand even the slightest change here. If
- you see the vampire, stab it's heart immediately. You must not fight it. Ask
- me about the stake if you wish to help. sculpting
Third Floor (and Roof):
- There is a ghost in the stairway, and it's description said that physical damage would be useless against it. Being a Shadow Sabre, I decided to pass on trying to kill it
- Going to the balcony, the room description says something is on the roof, but you can't reach it from there.
- Warning, the skeleton lieutenant will chase you if you run away.
- I'll admit, I started running downstairs and locking the door behind me when I had to flee when I was whittling it down.
- In the western lounge there is a fireplace. If you "search fireplace" it will reveal a set of stairs going to the roof.
- Two death knights are on the roof, blocking access to other parts of it
- They are much more powerful than I am, so I can't get past them
- I bought a flask of invisability for around 5k gold from a player and was able to sneak by them
- On the roof there is a casket containing a vampire.
- Another bug I found is if I completed the next steps while invisible I did not get credit for the quest. Also the quest bugged out and I had to complete it in a different boot. So make sure you remove your invisability by performing a spell/skill in a different room first. There is a room east of the coffin you can do that and not have to deal with blocking monsters.
- Next "open coffin" and then "stab vampire" if you have the stake. If you don't have the stake DO NOT OPEN the coffin. The vampire will kill you.
- Text for completing the area quest
- You open the coffin.
- You take the wooden stake and stab it through the vampire's heart with all
- your strenght. The vampire jerks a bit and turn to dust before your eyes. Congratulations! You have just completed Paladin stronghold!
- You receive 1490 gold as a reward for completing the quest.
- You receive 2 training points
