Land of the Overworld (Also known as Zebell's or Snowdog)
Continent: Lucetium
Description:
- Inspired by the songs of the band Rush.
- A very storied area of Batmud history. While it has fallen out of favor with a lot of players, it used to be a very popular equipment run area for mid-level parties.
- Never fully completed, (there is a gate that doesn't go anywhere in the south), but contains a number of secrets and "sub-areas"
- None that I know of.

- Various Guitars
- You can get guitars from the Snow Dog and By-Tor
- Maybe they are good for Bards? It seems somewhat unique. You can play them to rip out a ranging riff ;p
- Suit of the Musician
- Average protection and covers a lot of slots (it's a battlesuit). Not the worst piece of armour for a character that is just starting out
- Obtained by killing the musician hanging out backstage
- Metal Tipped Whip
- Dropped by the Drop dead woman in By-Tor's Suite
- Not a good weapon, but it has a special emote if you use it on another player...
Open Questions:
- I haven't been to the rooms with the Oak and Maple "bosses" yet.
- I also haven't visited By-Tor's cave yet.
- Is there anything special with the guitars and rockstar equipment?
Map:
Notes:
Entrance:
- From the entrance, you can go north to travel to the temple of the snow dog, and south to the mystical forest
Mystical Forest:
- In the forest, all the trees are alive. The Maples and Oaks are arguing with each other
- The maples want more sunlight, and the oaks block it out.
- The trees can become triggered by offensive spells and skills, making the fights difficult as they can gang up on you.
- In the Maple grove you will encounter two large maple trees that block your progress west.
- They will still block you if you are invisible
- I haven't been to the next room, but I suspect the King of the Maples is there (80k monster)
- In the other direction is a black path. Following it will lead you to two hideously deformed oak trees that block your path
- You can't sneak by these trees either
- I haven't been past them, but I believe the black oak is in the next room (100k monster, drops the gnarled staff)
- To the south is a "cool room" that demarks an entrance to the next part of Zebell's area but notes that part hasn't been coded yet.
- Zebell is no longer a Wizard, so don't expect this expansion to be finished anytime soon...
- In the southeast of the forest is a mighty hunter
- You can't really interact with them, but they do drop a Hunter's cloak making them a pretty easy newbie equipment monster to kill.
Valley Path:
- Going up the forest path, to the east you will find two complaining geezers playing chess.
- Nothing special, but I respect sitting around and chatting more than actually playing a game :)
- If you continue to go up, you will become lost in a forest and have to find yourself out of a maze.
- There's 4 rooms in the maze. I recommend dropping coins to find your way as it's one of the batmud mazes which can loop back onto itself.
- The plus is the path seems to remain the same over reboots. So if you want to get out go "East, South, South" and that will lead you to the exit.
- After leaving the maze, eventually you'll "skip" your way to the fountain of lamneth
- You'll encounter life there. If you kill them you can get Life's hand which is a mace
- I cast identify on it, and it was a very poor club with no special abilities.
- It might have some use in this area, but otherwise it's not a piece of equipment you'd want to use.
- If you go back to the forest you'll find yourself back in the maze...
- To exit the area, drink from the fountain.
- If life is still alive she will save you and teleport you back to the valley.
- If you killed life, you'll take around 35 damage but then end back up in the valley.
Temple of the Snow Dog:
- In the temple square you can "enter stage" to climb up onto the stage
- In the backstage is a musician getting ready for a concert. They will drop the suit of the musician if you kill them which is a not-horrible piece of newbie armour.
- In the small alcove in the temple, type "jump window" to go to the garden
- In the east side room is a disciple playing the guitar on a broom
- The broom can be useful for players in the monk guild to clean their rooms.
- In the guardroom in the basement, you'll encounter a locked door. The feeble guard will drop a key for it if you kill them.
- In the cell is a Hideous Pit Fiend (75k exp monster). It's big and bad, but it is not aggressive.
- In the west side room are a group of disciples arguing on wheter to kill By-tor or not due to their awesome guitar skills.
- Further north, the High Disciple of the Snow Dog will block your progress.
- Finally you'll reach the lair of the snow dog
- The snow dog is a popular EQ monster and drops the true amulet of the snow dog which gives +3 SPR
Temple Garden:
- In all of the rooms except for the entrance, you can "climb tree" to enter the tree
- In the first room of the tree, there is a hole exit. This will transport you to Hades/Hell (an area, you don't die. But there are tough aggressive monsters there).
- At the top of the tree is a bald eagle
- It will cast vacuum blast (top tier asphyxiation spell) so I recommend that if you fight the eagle don't hang out in the room. Get in, get a spell/skill off, then run away. Repeat.
- This was a harder than normal 20k monster for me to kill.
Hades:
- To leave hades, go south, go "off" path, and then "go through gateway"
- This will take you back to the temple of the snow dog
- If instead of going off path, you continue to follow the path, you will encounter an agressive demon who wants your blood!
- Exit by typing "run"
- This demon drops a ball of protection which is a decent newbie caster or martial arts piece of equipment.
- At the ravine of the dead you can "climb down" to descend it.
- You will encounter two aggressive vampire bats that will attack you.
- If you wait a minute, two more aggressive vampire bats will arrive and attack you as well.
- After you kill the second wave of bats, you can then "climb down" again to get to the bottom.
- At the bottom of the ravine, if you "hit gong with hammer" it will summon the boatman of the river styx.
- Type "pay boatman" to cross. This cost 500 gold.
- You can do the same thing on the other side to go back.
- Continuing on, you can now enter the hole of By-tor
- The entrance is guarded by a mighty knight of darkness (undead) who will attack you. They will prevent you from going southeast into By-Tor's lair
- The room to the Northeast is pretty boring with a lake I couldn't figure out how to interact with and creeping green moss which was pretty easy to kill.
- While I haven't been in By-Tor's lair, I've been told he's pretty hard and hits like a 100k monster, but only awards 2k worth of EXP. The real reason to kill him is he drops a magical silk shirt which is an interesting piece of equipment (lots of HPR regeneration).
By-Tor's Castle:
- Entrance to the castle in Hades is blocked by an evil castle guard
- Unlike a lot of the other blocking monsters in this area, you can sneak by them if you are invisible.
- In the entrance room of the castle is a suspicious big picture of a small dog. But I couldn't figure out how to interact with it.
- Going further north leads you to a blood soaked altar and an evil priest of the knights of darkness.
- If you kill them they drop a long slicing scythe, which is a polearm that weighs a ton. May be useful for evil religious players, but it doesn't look like it has any special bonuses.
- It only sells for 500 gold so I recommend leaving it.
- If you go upstairs be careful since there are two aggressive Knights of Darkness in the hallway.
- Luckily they aren't that tough (5k monsters).
- Making your way to By-Tor's Suite, you will encounter a beautiful woman who blocks your progress.
- She will stop you even if you try to sneak by her while invisible.
- If you kill her, she will drop a metal tip whip which has a special emote that you can whip players with.
- In the closet are a pari of black leather boots (perfect for stomping around stage on) and By-Tor's bass guitar.
- The boots sell for 2619 gold at the store so it may be worth your time to sell them.
- I took them to the stage in the Snowdog temple but nothing special seemed to happen when I wore/used them there.
